IBR to PAYE

A post in Light Purple

So I got a letter dated October 12th that I have been changed from IBR to PAYE or REPAYE. I'm now paying $293.01/monthly, which is about what I expected. But Why did I have to be the one to call every week before things got moving? Why did this drag out so long? What the hell are they doing at the FedLoan that they can't process things in a timely manner? Every year? So now I just wait for the next bill, which I hope will be in November, since the October payment didn't count towards my 120 payments for forgiveness because I'm on the forbearance paying the same amount I was paying before.

This is full of crock.

I just pray more students will NEVER accept a loan, ever, for college.

A possible Ploy

A post in deep purple.

So, I took time off work to call this morning. They answered pretty quick at 8:37 a.m. only waiting a minute on hold. Spoke to Erica #607588 and she said my status is STILL under review since the last time I called. Nothing has been done and she doesn't know why. She asked if I was on the Forgiveness Program and I said I was. She put something in the computer to speed this up. She said by next Wednesday something should be decided. There's a "working arch or processor" that needs to see my work and they've dropped the ball.

Also, my payment for October doesn't count towards the 120 payments because I "opted - out " so that I could change from one payment plan to another.

Well this shit needs to come to an end so that November's payment counts, damn it! I wish I could talk to someone who is above the people I call in order to make October's payment count because it wasn't MY FAULT they can't get their shit together.

Stupid, stupid student loans. May my nieces NEVER HAVE THEM!

Glad I called...idiots...

A post in green....

I"m glad I called. I"m glad I listened to that little voice that taps my shoulder, leans over and says "ya need to call those idiots at Fedloan Servicing. They don't really know what they're doing."

So I did. I called today at 5:28 p.m. and was answered by Chuck at 5:31 pm. employee #620386. First I asked him about the payoff inquiry and if it will change my account if I just ask about it and he said "no." It's just info. So if I asked what my payoff amount would be for a certain date, they'd tell me and it wouldn't affect my account in any way.
Oh good.

SO next question was the update. And he said there's a hold on my account until October 5th.
WTF?

So he put a request into the computer to Review my application for Pay as you earn. He doesn't know why no one put in a request.l If it's not done by October 5th, switching from one payment plan to another, then I'm charged $562.53 a month. Why hasn't anyone told me this????

"It's a mistake on our part" Chuck said. But he put the request in.

What the hell are they doing at Fedloan Servicing??? Seriously???? I received no information at all via mail or email or call or nothing to tell me I"m on hold. They really are just dicking people around.

What in the world is wrong with communication????

*sigh*

You know me....I'll be calling again. October 5th sounds about right....

Ok, and now what?

A post in red.

I called at 12:15 p.m .today and spoke to a young lady, employee number 620782. She said she had to pass me through to a Repayment Specialist. So I sat on hold. That was around 12:18 p.m.

12:27 p.m. I got Chrissy with employee number 608944. She said that I need to revise my current application if I don't want to pay $428/month. Soooo I have to revise the application for the PAYE and not the IDR or IBR.  So instead of 15% of my income it would be 10%. She told me to change question #1 to a "different income driven plan." The second question would be REPAYE or PAYE. The 4th question would be "Request different payment plan." She did say no to print another application but modify the one I have. So I did, and I will fax that over tomorrow. It's not the best solution, like, not having student loans, but I still pray and we'll see what happens.

For 2018

A post in cautious blue..

Called 1-800-699-2908 on 7/23/18 at 12:12 p.m. got someone at 12:15 pm. I think her name was Regn number 620116. I told her that the website that I go to online from myFedloan keeps spinning. It's like, I verify my address and then hit continue and it just goes back to the same page. Forever. So this young lady on the phone tells me how to print out an application which has the expiration date of this year. myFedLoan.com/idrapp. The first couple of times I tried it at home that website didn't come up. But like the 3rd or 4th time it did work and I did print it out and faxed it to 717-720-1628. Just in case they dick me over, I got their mailing address of P.O. Box 69184, Harrisburg, PA 17106-9184. I did fax it on 7/24/18 and I called today, 7/25/18 and the recording said that they did get it and they will review it and let me know by August 8th what my new payments will be. And if they have any questions they will email me.
But you know me: my ass will be calling them.

Let's just see what happens this year...

2018 And here we go again...

A post in Red

I'll admit it - I'm afraid. I'm anxious. I don't like it when another party tells me I owe them so much money and that affects my mortgage, my light bill, my water bill, my gas bill, my grocery bill...

I got the letter yesterday, saying that my "Annual Re certification Is Coming Soon". Now, they say that "in about 2 months, look for another communication." And then later in the letter, they state "If we do not receive your completed application and all supporting documentation within 10 days of 7/28/18, your monthly payment will increase to $832.06." True, that's within 2 months of 6/1/18, but really, that's around a month and a half.

So, I must rely on prayer. Because they government can be cruel unless we call the media on them.
